Emergency Alerts Test – Helping You Prepare for Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm

The UK Government will send a test emergency alert to mobile phones across the UK at around 3 pm on 7 September 2025.

At 3pm on Sunday 7 September, the UK Government will be running a nationwide test of the Emergency Alerts system.

This system is designed to warn people about life-threatening emergencies such as severe flooding, wildfires, and extreme weather.

What you can expect

  • Your phone or tablet may emit a loud siren, vibrate, and read out a message.
  • This will happen even if your device is on silent.
  • The alert will last for around 10 seconds and will include a link or number for further information.

Preparing for the test

If you are driving

  • Do not check your phone when the alert sounds.
  • Stop safely and legally if you need to, or listen to live radio for updates.

This is a test only. The Emergency Alerts system has been created to help keep people safe in real emergencies.
